The role

SatLayer’s mission is to unlock Bitcoin’s potential to secure the world via shared security. As part of this effort, we are hiring a Head of Engineering with experience from 0 to 1 and 1 to 10. At SatLayer, you will lead and scale our engineering organization while driving technical strategy and execution across multiple concurrent projects. You'll work directly with the founding team to build and manage high-performing engineering teams focused on our core products: core restaking contracts, cross-chain BVS platform, BVS support, deposit app/LST/LRT integrations, and managing external engineering partners.

Key responsibilities

Define and execute technical strategy aligned with SatLayer's mission of unlocking Bitcoin's potential through shared security
Build, lead, and mentor a world-class engineering team
Manage multiple concurrent projects including core protocol development, BVS implementations, and integration solutions
Drive technical architecture decisions and ensure scalability, security, and reliability across all systems
Collaborate with product, business, and external partners to define and execute the technical roadmap
Establish engineering best practices, processes, and quality standards
Own the end-to-end delivery of major technical initiatives
Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and technical excellence

Requirements

Proven track record of growing and managing engineering teams of 10+ people
Deep expertise in DeFi/crypto technologies and blockchain infrastructure
Strong technical background in distributed systems and cryptography
Experience managing multiple complex technical projects concurrently
Track record of successful project delivery in fast-paced startup environments
Excellence in cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management

Standout qualities

Experience with Bitcoin restaking protocols or similar shared security systems
Prior work with CosmosSDK chains and cross-chain infrastructure (CosmosSDK chains and devnets and libraries like Go-CosmWasm)
Strong network in the crypto engineering community
Background in system architecture and protocol design
